Common questions before you buy
Straight answers to questions we hear just before customers get a quote—click a question to read more.
Do I need planning permission for a summer house?
Many summer houses and garden rooms can fall within permitted development rules, but it depends on height, position, proximity to boundaries, and how the building will be used. Requirements also vary by council. We recommend confirming with your local planning authority for your plot—and we can talk through common garden-room scenarios before you place an order.
What kind of base do I need for a summer house or garden room?
You need a level, structural base that spreads load properly—typically concrete, paving slabs on compacted hardcore, or a well-built timber platform. The right choice depends on ground conditions, access and the size of the building. We advise on base specification during quoting so your installation stays straightforward.
Do you install the buildings, or is it delivery only?
We install. This is not kerbside delivery of a flat-pack kit—our own team delivers and builds the building on site so it is assembled correctly, square, and weathertight.
How long does it take from ordering to installation?
Timelines depend on season, workshop capacity, and how bespoke your specification is. After deposit and final sign-off on the design, we book a slot and give you a clear installation window—typically from a few weeks upward. Your quote will reflect realistic lead times at the point you order.
